Salt Lake Community College is honoring the year it was founded, 1948, through hosting a 1,948-minute Giving Day celebration in February.
This college-wide event, the first of its kind at SLCC, will involve all campuses and departments. It begins at 8 a.m. on Feb. 17, 2021, and ends 32 hours and 28 minutes later on Feb. 18 at 4:28 p.m.
“The purpose for SLCC’s Giving Day is to generate awareness and excitement for SLCC’s impact on students, their families, our community and community partners, and the local economy,” said Laurie Staton, SLCC’s director of sustainable giving.
The event provides exposure to SLCC because most four-year colleges and universities have their own giving days, Staton continues.
Giving Day, which coincides with National Random Acts of Kindness Day, aims to build awareness of philanthropy’s impact while emphasizing the power that comes from working together.
“Supporting students is our top priority at Salt Lake Community College,” Staton said. “Imagine what we can do together to help them succeed.”
